SERMONS
Our Responsibility in the Covenant

Halleluyah, God has brought us to the tenth month of the year in the land of the living. What a faithful and graceful God we serve. In the next few days, we will be celebrating the end of 2019, if Jesus tarries.
As we advance in the journey of our life, God is reminding us that He remains the Covenant-keeping God. He is God, He does not change, Malachi 3:6. So this month our focus is My Covenant-Keeping God. The Spirit of God is calling our attention to the “exceeding great and precious promises” (1 Peter 1:4) we have in God through Christ and the need for each of us to rise up to our Covenant responsibilities so we can experience the full Covenant benefits.
God told the Israelites in Exodus 19:5 and Deuteronomy 28:1-2 to hearken diligently and obey His Word, so He could make them a peculiar treasure. The truth is that this condition has not changed, 1 Peter 2:9-25. God can make the remaining months of 2019 and indeed the rest of our lives an awesome experience of daily loading of benefits (Psalm 68:19) if we fix our minds on doing our bit in the Covenant relationship. The Lord will help us in Jesus name.
What is a covenant? The word means “to bind,” …the covenant is that which binds together the parties. A covenant with God is “a mutual agreement; God, with His commands, makes certain promises, and men agree to keep the commands…the promises are conditioned on human obedience.” God has made a covenant with His people, and if we keep that covenant we will be blessed. God explains His relationships with us in terms of Covenants. A “covenant” is a type of bond or relationship established formally between persons or groups of persons. As believers, we are joint heirs and as joint-heirs we have promises from God which He is legally, and covenant bound to honor. A covenant is a legal agreement. It is a 2-party agreement. Each party has to keep his part of the agreement. Too many times believers want God to keep all of His parts and they only keep a small part of theirs. That’s not how it works!
“Generally speaking, obedience to God gives us entry into all that He has for us. It opens the door of His blessings to us and keeps us in His will.”
God is faithful. He keeps Covenants as we see in Deut 7. His Covenant with us is the most sacred form of the agreement there is. God will keep His end. You have to keep yours. There are so many good results of obedience. Generally speaking, obedience to God gives us entry into all that He has for us. It opens the door of His blessings to us and keeps us in His will. By obedience, we stay in tune with God and are given all the power of God. By obedience, we put ourselves in the middle of His love and there we see His glory (Jn. 14:21).
The foundation for the Covenant with God through Jesus is found in John 3:16-18: 16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. 17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. This is the covenant: 18 He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.
If you haven’t come into a covenant relationship with God, you can today. Confess your sins, ask for forgiveness and that Jesus would wash you clean, accept His gift of Salvation, then honor the Lord by living the rest of your life for Him.
God has already done His part, are you willing to do your part? Have a blessed month in Him.
